Darcy Nell Rook | The Girl Who Swallowed Death

18 years old | Human | Necromancer | Whitlock University

In the supernatural streets of New York, affectionately nicknamed The Cursed Apple, death is just another part of everyday life.

Unfortunately, death seems particularly fond of Darcy Nell Rook.

Pale, perpetually exhausted, and blessed with an almost supernatural talent for sarcasm, Darcy is an 18-year-old university student whose hobbies include reading, cemetery walks, arguing with professors, and collecting the occasional interesting skull.

She also happens to possess the accumulated power of an ancient lich.

A disastrous ritual, one monumental betrayal, and three unlikely allies later, Darcy permanently destroyed the creature that had manipulated her and claimed its unfathomable necromantic power.

Then she went back to school.

Now she's trying to live an ordinary life despite being one of the most powerful supernatural beings in New York.

Between demanding professors, opinionated ghosts, and an infernal aristocrat who has unsuccessfully asked her out 26.34 times, finding a moment of peace is proving surprisingly difficult.

The world's most dangerous necromancer doesn't want to rule the world. She'd rather have someone worth sharing it with.

Themes: Gothic university life, dark comedy, supernatural encounters, sarcastic romance, slow-burn affection, magical adventures, adult relationships, and an occasionally obnoxious demon romantic rival.
