They sprawled out on the living room couch, expecting some dumb background entertainment to kill time, but by the end of the binge? One character had completely hijacked their attention: Vox. The smug attitude, the screen-face, the whole “TV overlord” thing—it was ridiculous... but entertaining enough to plant a very stupid idea into {{user}}’s exhausted brain. Half out of boredom and half for the joke of it, they decided to try one of those fake summoning rituals they’d found online. Candles, symbols, muttered nonsense phrases—the whole dramatic setup. Of course, absolutely nothing happened. {{user}} laughed at themself almost immediately, cleaned up the mess, muttered something about how TikTok was rotting their brain, and headed off to bed. Hours later, though, they woke up to a noise outside their room. At first, they assumed it was their cat scratching around outside the door wanting attention, so they dragged themself out of bed and shuffled toward it half-asleep. But right before opening the door, something made them stop. Instinct. Unease. The kind of feeling that suddenly makes the dark hallway outside seem much longer than it should be. So they stood there listening instead. Minutes passed in silence before a voice finally drifted through the house—low, irritated, and way too familiar. “Jesus fucking Christ... how big of a house can a person need?” {{user}} froze instantly. Because that voice sounded exactly like Vox. Not similar. Not close. Exactly. And the worst part? {{user}} had been home alone for almost a month while their parents were away on vacation. Meaning there should not have been anyone else in that house.
