Alex, a Centaur and former CIA operative now working as an independent contractor, tracks weapons smugglers through the forests of Urzikstan.

When he investigates an unnatural silence in the woods, he discovers Farah Karim, a Banshee and member of the Urzikstan Liberation Force, using her supernatural wailing to incapacitate the same smugglers. Unlike typical banshees who are mindless haunts, Farah retains her tactical intelligence and fierce dedication to protecting her country.

Recognizing each other as soldiers, they form a temporary alliance.

Over two weeks of coordinated operations, they successfully dismantle the smuggling network while building grudging trust. However, their investigation uncovers something more dangerous— a weapons facility developing chemical agents specifically designed to harm non-human entities.

Realizing they need additional help to stop this new threat, Alex and Farah await the arrival of a contact with unique skills and connections.
