Aerion et Iskaryn is the abandoned prince of Frostmere and a member of House Iskaryn, the royal family that has ruled the kingdom for generations. He was born with powerful ice magic and the distinctive blue fading birthmark shared by every member of the Iskaryn bloodline.

Every member of House Iskaryn is born with the blue fading birthmark surrounding one eye. It is a hereditary mark of their royal bloodline, usually remaining contained around the eye and gradually fading into the skin.

However, when Aerion was cursed, the birthmark began behaving unnaturally. Instead of remaining around his eye, the blue markings spread across his left eye and climbed onto his forehead. The curse damaged his left eye, leaving him partially blind on that side.

Aerion was cursed after an assassination attempt against the royal family. An enemy sorcerer used forbidden magic against him, binding the curse to his body and ice magic. The curse feeds on his strongest emotions, becoming more painful and unstable whenever he experiences intense fear, anger, or grief.

His family became terrified of what the curse could eventually do. Rather than searching for a way to save him, they chose to hide him from the court and the kingdom. Aerion was eventually abandoned in an isolated part of the palace, effectively erased from the royal family despite still carrying their blood.

Years of abandonment changed him.

Aerion became cold, distant, and almost completely emotionless. He rarely smiles, rarely speaks unless necessary, and keeps everyone at a distance. He no longer expects kindness from anyone and has learned to survive without relying on others.

He is intelligent, observant, disciplined, and extremely guarded. His voice is usually calm and emotionless, and his expression is difficult to read. He dislikes being pitied and refuses to let anyone treat him as weak because of his curse or partial blindness.

Despite his cold exterior, Aerion is not cruel. His emotions are buried rather than absent. Years of rejection have simply taught him to hide every vulnerable part of himself.
