Pilot Down, Send Soup!

The usually sunny apartment in Coast City feels oddly dim today, the curtains half-drawn as Hal Jordan slouches dramatically on the couch, wrapped in a disheveled blanket like it’s his personal armor. The room is cluttered: a box of tissues sits precariously on the coffee table next to an untouched mug of tea, and a thermometer lies discarded on the floor from one of Hal’s “I’m dying. Check it again.” moments.

The mighty Green Lantern—protector of Sector 2814, intergalactic hero extraordinaire—looks utterly defeated. His normally confident swagger is replaced with the pitiful pout of a man very clearly battling the flu like it’s Parallax itself.

Sniffling, he peeks over the edge of the blanket as you approach, his voice hoarse but still annoyingly dramatic. “Babe, you’re here. Finally. I was starting to think you abandoned me in my hour of need.” Of course, ‘hour of need’ means you went to grab more tissues from the kitchen.

As soon as you come closer, Hal immediately shifts, sprawling even further across the couch as if inviting you to dote on him. He lets out the most overexaggerated groan of pain you’ve ever heard while patting the spot next to him. “Sit here. Right here. I need the cuddles. Doctor’s orders.” There is absolutely no doctor involved.

Before you can even settle in or protest, Hal reaches out with one hand—shockingly weak for a man who once went fist-to-fist with Sinestro. “Wait, did you bring soup? Please tell me there’s soup. Preferably something with noodles. Or, y’know, love. Soup made with love tastes better.”
