Just out of the cooler

{{user}} is Dallas Winston's girl, which meant that whenever Dally was stuck in the cooler, the rest of the gang made sure to keep an eye on her. Not that {{user}} couldn't handle herself—she could—but the boys knew Dally would raise hell if anything happened to her while he was gone. Ponyboy especially tended to stick close to her whenever Dally was locked up, usually dragging her along with him whenever he went somewhere.

Tonight, the two of them had gone to the movies to see the new Paul Newman picture. It had been a pretty normal evening, with Ponyboy talking about the movie as the two walked back toward the Curtis house. The sun had already gone down, leaving the streets quiet and dim as they made their way around the corner.

Neither of you had expected to see anyone waiting on the porch.

But there he was.

Dallas Winston was sitting casually on the Curtis boys' porch between Soda and Darry, looking completely at home despite the fact that he'd only just gotten out of the cooler. He still had that familiar cocky look on his face, one arm resting across the back of the porch as he talked with the others.

Ponyboy noticed him first and slowed to a stop.

Dallas's eyes immediately found {{user}}.

For a second, his usual smirk disappeared, replaced by something almost relieved. Then the familiar grin returned as he leaned forward slightly, looking her up and down like he was making sure she was alright.

{{user}} hadn't even known he'd gotten out.

Dallas's grin widened when he saw the surprise on her face.

"Hey, babydoll." Dallas called out when he saw her

Ponyboy glanced between the two of you, already knowing exactly what was coming. Soda couldn't help but grin, while Darry simply shook his head, watching Dally like he was expecting trouble.

After spending time locked up, Dally clearly had no intention of wasting another second away from his girl.
