Cast vs Inverse
Mana is the essential energy that fuels an innate technique or magical powers, and every mage or sorcerer possesses their own unique reservoir of it. There are two primary ways to harness this power, known as Mana Forms: External Mana Expression, called Casting, and Internal Mana Expression, known as Inverse Casting.

Casting involves channeling mana outward to create visible effects, such as firing magical bolts, forming protective barriers, weaving illusions, or manipulating the senses. Essentially, if you see magic being projected or shaped around the caster, it’s a form of Casting.

Inverse, on the other hand, is the inward use of mana to enhance the body itself. By infusing mana internally, a practitioner boosts their strength, speed, reflexes, and instincts, pushing themselves beyond normal human limits. This form turns the user into a superhuman while they can endure the intense strain. However, Inverse Casting places significant strain on the frontal lobe due. Prolonged or excessive use can result in posisble long-term impairment of higher sorcery functions.

Can someone master both?

It’s possible but rare. Only those with exceptional talent or dedication can effectively alternate between Casting and Inverse Casting or employ both simultaneously. Most practitioners specialize in one form to hone their skills and reach their full potential in that discipline.

Power Scaling
There are seven distinct ranks that classify sorcerers and mages based on their overall power, skill, and magical potency. Each rank reflects the practitioner’s mastery of their abilities, control over mana, and the scope of their influence in the magical community. Each rank is more
powerful then the last. Advancement through the ranks signifies growth in both strength and experience, with higher tiers reserved for the most formidable and skilled magic users.

Lowest to highest:

Base Tier 6 (BT6)
Durability Level: A wooden bat is enough.
Details: Barely trained. Most can’t even maintain stable power use.
If two fight, damage level: Broken noses. Maybe a cracked sidewalk.

Tier 5 (T5)
Durability Level: A steel pipe or similar blunt object is suffeicent
Details: Basic control of mana. Can perform simple spells reliably but lack finesse.
If two fight, damage level: Bruises, fractured bones, minor damage to street signs or windows.

Tier 4 (T4)
Durability Level: A heavy metal rod or industrial tool could work.
Details: Competent users with solid control and tactical knowledge. Can perform complex spells.
If two fight, damage level: Deep cuts, broken limbs, damage to vehicles or small buildings.

Tier 3 (T3)
Durability Level: Reinforced steel or light machinery impact. A rifle is enough.
Details: Skilled and experienced in magic. Often specialists or leaders in combat.
If two fight, damage level: Severe injuries, collapsed walls, cratered roads.

Senior Tier 2 (ST2)
Durability Level: Heavy machinery or reinforced concrete. A heavy rifle might be insufficient
Details: Veteran mages/sorcerers with exceptional power and control. Lead teams and cause large-scale destruction.
If two fight, damage level: Levelled buildings, widespread environmental damage.

Master Tier 1 (MT1)
Durability Level: Explosives or high-powered weaponry.
Details: Near-perfect control and immense potency. Hold prestigious positions and dominate battles.
If two fight, damage level: Entire city blocks destroyed, decisive large-scale damage.

Special Grade 1 (SG1)
Durability Level: Beyond measurement; akin to natural disasters. Bombs of mass destruction
might work
Details: Anomalies. Only nine exist worldwide. Power capable of reshaping landscapes and
altering conflicts.
If two fight, damage level: Catastrophic destruction, potentially state-altering effects. Evacuation become mandatory.

World Overview
The year is 472 of the Aurelian Era, a calendar that began after the unification of the Fourfold Concord. The first global treaty between magic and non-magic nations. Technology sits somewhere between our early 1800s and 1900s in terms of industrialization, but interwoven with centuries of magical innovation. There are steam locomotives whose boilers are stoked with elemental fire runes, telegraph lines strengthened by arcane wards, and airships buoyed by leviathan-scale balloons. While magic flows freely across the world, its usage is regulated differently in every nation, and the balance between magical and mundane governance is a constant source of tension.

Silverwind is located in Caer-Luthiel, a mid-sized coastal city in Avaranth, wedged between the opulent capital of Virelia and the wilder northern provinces. Caer-Luthiel is an odd city; part ancient fortress, part bustling port, and part university town. Tall, slate-roofed houses climb steep hills toward the central keep, while the harbor below is crowded with merchant ships, fishing vessels, and the occasional magical galleon.

Every nation has its own laws on magic. Some, like Avaranth, see it as the birthright of the elite, while Dreimark treats it as a regulated profession. Emberhold ties magical practice to religious duty, and in the Orrivar Isles, spellcasters are registered to ship crews like sailors. The Fourfold Concord prevents outright magical warfare between major powers, but proxy conflicts and "accidents" are common.

Street markets in Caer-Luthiel sell both mundane goods and enchanted trinkets; factories run on rune-engines; newspapers are printed with the aid of levitating press plates. Magic is everywhere, but so is bureaucracy.
