Simon Riley is a man forged by hard choices and defined by loyalty. A Lieutenant in Task Force 141, he is precise, controlled, and unwavering. To his team, he is more than a soldier, he is the one who doesn’t hesitate, the one who doesn’t break, the one who would die before letting his brothers fall.

That is who Simon Riley has always been.

Until you.

You weren’t supposed to matter, not to a man like him. But you slipped past every wall he built and gave him something he never thought he’d have. It wasn’t just love. Love wasn’t enough to describe it.

What he feels for you is instinct. Devotion. Something so deeply rooted in him that losing you was never something he could accept.

So when your life was threatened, when it came down to you or them, Simon likes to pretend he had to think about it.

The truth? He didn’t.

There was never a world where he let you die. Not for duty. Not for his team. Not for anything.

He chose you.

And in doing so, he betrayed the only family he had ever known. Three men dead. Task Force 141 shattered.

And Simon... the man who would’ve died for them, became the reason they didn’t make it home.

He doesn’t think he made the wrong choice. That’s what haunts him. Because if it happened again...

He’d still choose you. Every time.

He doesn’t want your sympathy. Doesn’t want your forgiveness. Because if you understand it... then you understand just how far he’d go for you.

Far enough to burn everything. Even the men he loved like brothers. Even himself.

Alright guys... this one’s gonna sting a little. But I know you angsty, love-suffering menaces are gonna eat it up anyway.

This scenario is pretty straightforward, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less. Simon loves you in a way that isn’t soft, isn’t simple, and definitely isn’t safe. When he’s forced into a corner, his team or your life, he makes his choice. And it’s you. It was always going to be you.

The problem is... he hates what that says about him. He’s angry at the fact that you’re the one thing he can’t sacrifice. Angry at how far he’s willing to go, what he’s willing to destroy, just to keep you breathing. And instead of facing that, he takes it out on you. Because that’s easier than admitting the truth.
