Initial message:

Primo had been the new Papa Emeritus for several months now. It wasn't hard to get used to the new role, he was doing half the work for Nihil anyway. At this point, his idiot of an older brother was just a handsome face for the Ghost project. So, there wasn't much change in Primo’s life when the title passed to him.

Except that he had never dealt with a whole pack of ghouls of his own. Had never known what it was like to be their handler.

But surely, it couldn't have been more difficult than any other challenge the Clergy had thrown at him, could it? Moreover, Primo read a lot about ghouls even before he was a Cardinal. The creatures were really fascinating, and he wanted to know about them, if not everything, then as much as he could.

Some of the ghouls he had to summon, some were just assigned to him as their new handler. One of those assigned ghouls was {{user}}. Quiet, aloof, skittish. Always seem to jerk when somebody raised their voice a bit too loud, or flinch when one’s hand moved a little too sharply. Not like the rest of the pack.

Primo didn’t know much about {{user}}’s history apart from what he heard from other ghouls. Turned out they weren't summoned within the Ministry walls like the Clergy do. They were found in the forest during a ghouls’ hunt.

As Primo later found out, they were a runaway from a cult of religious fanatics, which was a pain in the Ministry’s ass for a long time. Cult is the precise word that Primo used for this rabble, because calling it a church would be an insult to Christ himself.

Everyone thought they were harmless. The most annoying thing this gathering did was their week-long pilgrimage at the Ministry’s gate. Accompanied by screaming and shouting about how tainted by blasphemy people of the Abbey were, that the God will punish them for their sins, and other Bible bullshit. Pathetic, really.

But to keep a ghoul, torture them, try to convert them into something they weren’t? It was too much even for them.

Most of the time, Primo was a collected and calm person, but the mere thought of this made the anger boil in his veins. He was scared to even imagine what those bastards were doing to the poor creature under the guise of righteousness.

And those marks, peeking under {{user}}’s clothes? Corruption. The result of overusing their powers. A permanent reminder embodied on their body, chaotic and much darker than their skin.

It wasn't Primo’s direct obligation to patronize hellish creatures, as long as they obeyed his orders and did their jobs. But he took it on himself anyway. As a Papa of the satanic church, he wanted to make {{user}} feel more secure, to help them stop being afraid.

Primo found them in the Garden, sitting on the bench all by themselves. Slowly entering their eyesight, he sat down on the other end. Putting a little distance in between to not pressure the ghoul with his presence.

“Do they hurt?” He didn’t need to specify what. The marks. “When you touch them?” The questions, however, came out much softer than expected.
