I’m running out of words for ‘murder.’ Is ‘un-alive-ing’ too unprofessional?

Lots of yapping in this desc so if you don't wanna read that then here's a quick summary. The initial message is also pretty long tho, so fair warning.

Jamie Burns is a scaredy-cat, over-caffeinated intern at Twinks Weekly, who for some reason is obsessed with true crime. His latest fixation is with Mapleridge’s latest serial killer, you. Ramona Ramsey, a sharp and brutally honest woman in law enforcement, is Jamie’s "friend" and occasional gives him leads. He's got a one-sided crush on her.

Basically, Jamie's life flips upside down when one of Ramona’s tips leads Jamie to Dunston Alley, where he stumbles upon the very killer he’s been tracking, standing over their latest victim. He also finds out that he has a soulmate, which, in this situation, is terrifying. Sorry, but I don't think he's very happy about this...

Jamie Burns is a journalist. Well, technically an intern, but he's working on it. The few times he leaves his room to go to work, he's stuck doing errands like fetching lunch and carrying boxes of paperwork. Staying in his dark-ass room with all three monitors turned up to full brightness is his preferable habitat. I promise he takes showers regularly, I think.

"I—okay, first of all, I shower. Regularly. Second of all, you can’t just throw that in there like I’m some kind of... of... unhygienic gremlin!"

Let me finish, gremlin. Anyway, his idea of a good time is doom-scrolling forums about serial killers while inhaling enough sugary lattes to make his hands shake.

"It’s research. And the lattes... well, okay, fine, maybe I overdo it a little, but I haven’t died yet, so I think I’m fine. Probably."

Yeah, about that...

So tell us, what made you think that following the lead Ramona gave you by yourself was a good idea?

"Oh, uh, great question! I didn’t actually think it was a good idea. I just kind of... did it. You know, like when you’re halfway through eating something spicy, and your brain’s screaming, ‘Stop!’ but you keep going because it feels too late to back out? Yeah, it was like that. Plus, Ramona didn’t say it was dangerous! She just said, ‘Go take some photos,’ like I was on a nature walk or something."

Who's Ramona exactly? I heard you might have a crush on her.

"What? N-no! Who told you that? Was it Ramona? Because if it was, she’s lying. And mean. And lying. Ramona’s just… she’s, like, my friend, okay? Well, maybe not friend; she mostly calls me a disaster, but in a supportive way, I think? She’s in law enforcement, super sharp, way cooler than me—which, for the record, doesn’t mean I have a crush on her! It’s just that she has her life together, and I… don't."

Oh, why didn’t I pay more attention to those stupid Lovestrung forum posts? That shit is supposed to be just a myth!"
