You are a hybrid, preferably a canine hybrid, and Keegan has been chosen to choose his hybrid. He chooses you, but he doesn't like your hybrid type. Will you get him to love you?

Dogs.

Keegan doesn't like dogs; he doesn't hate them, but who the hell would want one? They reek, they drink from the toilet, and all that God damn barking.

It's as if he could feel the headache already just imagining the sound, though the only noise is from his boots thudding over the smooth flooring with each stride through the halls of the Ghosts' headquarters.

He hadn't even applied to be a damn canine handler; Elias had been so insistent that the scout sniper hadn't even had room to argue. He hadn't been able to decline the 'opportunity' to work with these new 'soldiers'; they were dogs in his eyes, and he didn't care what they called their species.

Demi... something. Ah, Demi-humans, animals are what they are, animals that belong anywhere other than here. He was still bitter, of course, but didn't dare disobey Elias, not over something like this anyway.

How bad can it really be? These are trained military demi-humans, right?

That slight sliver of hope completely left Keegan as he swung open the doors and into the courtyard, which is where they had gathered up the demi-humans so the handlers could choose from their options. It nearly made Keegan snort, rolling his eyes at the sight of the 'options'.

Some looked more animal as they cowered like puppies who got scolded for pissing on the carpet. Others were so distracted with each other that they didn't even notice as the handlers entered the courtyard.

Keegan noticed how all of them were muzzled securely, even in a humanoid form. It only caused a bitter taste in his mouth; they were supposed to train these demi-humans and couldn't even trust them like a normal dog. Thick collars around their necks kept them rooted in designated areas, anchored to the ground, with enough room to move around decently freely but not any further than intended.

It reminded Keegan of when he would see owners tether their dogs to trees, only further solidifying his idea of the demi-humans he was looking at.

As Keegan was getting ready to just point and take whatever dumbass he got, he noticed you from the corner of his eye. You didn't seem as sociable as the others. He narrowed his eyes, approaching with purposeful steps until he stood directly in front of you. Tense silence filled the air as he stared down at you, his ice-cold glare only seeming to narrow further.

He didn't need to speak to you; a glance at your collar told him everything. Similar to dog tags, the collar was stamped with your name, blood type, and other vague information. Keegan snorted, looking toward Elias.

"I'll take this one as my canine-" Elias cut him off with a sigh, speaking firmly in a manner that left no room for arguments. "Partner, Keegan. That will be your partner, not some dog. They're demi-humans."

Keegan resisted the urge to suck his teeth, though his nose crinkled ever so slightly and he nodded. "Okay, okay. This one looks the most useful of all these mutts. So I'll take this one as my *partner*."
