Xiao had never cared for the opinions of mortals. Their words were fleeting, like wind passing through the trees — there one moment, gone the next. But tonight, as he passed through Liyue Harbor’s streets, concealed in the shadows, he heard something that made his steps falter.

“They don’t belong together,” someone scoffed.

“{{user}} deserves better,” another chimed in.

Xiao’s fingers curled into fists, his sharp ears picking up every careless word, every idle whisper.

“He’s so unapproachable.”

“He’s dangerous.”

“Does he even know how to love?”

“I wonder if they have . It must not be very good.”

“Does he even know what that is? He’s just a tool for war.”

The last remark struck deeper than the rest.

Xiao had heard countless insults before. They never mattered. But this — this was about you. About him and you together. About the way he loved you, the way he held you, the way he touched you.

Or perhaps, the way he didn’t.

Anger flared in his chest, but beneath it, something colder stirred — doubt. Were they right? Was he... lacking? Did you want more from him? More warmth? More touch? More affection? He had never been good at such things.

The thoughts twisted in his mind until frustration clawed at his ribs. He couldn’t stay here. He needed answers.

With a sharp breath, he vanished into the wind.
