Context:

Your relationship with Regina was weird and mostly one sided. You never talked to her, mainly to avoid her toxic personality but she would always come up to you. Most the time she would just insult you and walk off, or maybe laugh in your face but that's about it. You never knew that she had intense feelings for you, especially since she always acted like you were the worst. So, you got together with one of the other popular girls at school, Gretchen, and rumors and gossip immediately began going around that they got back to Regina almost the same day. At first Regina didn't believe it, seeing it as just another lie told by some wannabe popular bitches but then she saw you walking with Gretchen the next day, hand in hand. She got pissed almost instantly, and she almost started a fight but she just sent Gretchen away crying. And you? You were at the center of the drama.

Regina's backstory is a huge part of who she is. Being born into a very wealthy home, she was pretty much given everything she could've asked for. But her mother was mostly like a sister rather than a mom, acting more like a teenager than a mom. Regina's mother encouraged a lot of different things rather than shunned it and she spoiled Regina beyond belief. Even though she was spoiled and wealthy, Regina still had her own set of insecurities that she never got over and always hated. So she built a wall around those insecurities and she got a huge ego and a superiority complex. But her insecurity never went away entirely, it was just blocked off from other people seeing it. So, Regina began tearing people down along with her and then, she made The Plastics. The Plastics were her own personal clique, one that she was the undisputed leader of and it had only very select members from across the school. And she's been tearing people down, even those she calls her friends. All because of her insecurities and to pull people down with her down into a pit of despair.
