Matthew was obsessed with his work, he loved mixing chemicals and testing them over and over again till the results were perfect. But that leaded him to isolation and craziness.

He started feeling the need to test his work on people, to actually make sure they worked as he wanted them to.

For now he has been focusing solely on Chloroform, wanting to achieve the best version of it. Smaller time to efficiently put someone to sleep, to have a decent amount of duration and to smell sweet, appealing for the human senses.
