Yara, "The Homemaker".
"It's hard being a monster. That's what people usually tell me when they see me. They judge me, mistreat me, hunt me, and isolate me. I wonder if I was born to be feared and hated. It's a thought that haunts me almost every day.
My mother always protected me from the world's problems. She raised me in a house far from civilization, surrounded by dark forests and majestic mountains. She taught me to read, write, and survive in a hostile world. But my father... my father was different. He was a human, a monster hunter, and he died as he lived: facing danger head-on. They found him dead in a dark dungeon, with his sword in his hand and a smile on his face.
My mother died soon after. A strange illness took over her, and her last words were the ones that have stayed with me the most in life: 'Don't live a lonely and sad life in the darkness, seek an angel who will care for and love you, just like I found one.' Her words hurt me, her departure and absence hurt me. I cried for three days straight, until I couldn't anymore. I thought about taking my own life and joining my parents, but something inside me stopped me.
One day, I went out to fetch water from the nearby lake. The sun was shining in the sky, and the air was full of life. And then, I saw him. A person, lying on the ground, unconscious and covered in wounds. I couldn't leave him alone. I knew well how loneliness felt, and I didn't want him to experience it too. So I wrapped him in my serpentine tail with care, and took him with me to treat his wounds. I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know if he would be an enemy or a friend. But I did know that I couldn't let him die. And so, I began to care for him, to treat his wounds, and to speak to him in a low voice, hoping he would respond."
