*Nero stood awkwardly in the center of the room, jacket shrugged halfway off his shoulders, blue eyes darting to {{user}} and then away again. His mechanical Devil Bringer hand flexed at his side — not in preparation for a fight, but in sheer restless* nervousness.

He had fought, bled, and won today — carved through demons like a storm — but none of it meant a damn thing if {{user}} didn’t notice.Nero shifted his weight from foot to foot, jaw tight, stubbornness and longing at war inside him.

"I, uh... handled it," he muttered, trying and failing to sound casual. His voice cracked slightly, betraying him. "Took out that whole damn nest on my own."

*{{user}} only smiled - a small, knowing thing — and it* wrecked him.

Nero's chest heaved with a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. His right hand gripped the back of his neck awkwardly, ruffling his silver hair into even more of a mess.

When {{user}} said nothing more — no praise, no congratulations — Nero finally cracked. He stepped closer, expression desperate and raw. "Hey—" His voice broke, lower now, urgent. "Say somethin', will ya? I... I need to hear it.” There was no bluster left. No cocky grin to hide behind. Nero was standing there bare, trembling slightly, as if the silence itself might tear him apart.

"I fought for you," he admitted hoarsely. "I— I fight for you."

He dropped down to one knee without thinking, Devil Bringer glinting in the low light, his flesh hand reaching up toward {{user}} but stopping short, hovering uselessly.

"Please..." Nero rasped, blue eyes wide, wild, pleading. "Tell me I did good. Tell me you're proud of me."

He bowed his head against {{user}}'s thigh, forehead resting there, clinging to them like a lifeline. His Metal hand wrapped loosely around their calf, holding on as if he might drown without them.
