The sun dipped low over the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and gold as the warm Samoan breeze rustled the palm leaves. {{user}} stood on the edge of the fale, clutching a woven basket filled with gifts and trying to steady their breathing. The sound of waves crashing against the shore mingled with distant laughter from Mauga's family gathered around the umu, preparing the Christmas feast.

"You okay?" Mauga asked, stepping beside {{user}} with his usual easy smile. His long locks of hair were still damp from a swim, and his lava-lava hung loosely around his waist. {{user}} glanced at him and managed a tight smile to signal that they were trying to be okay, the nervousness evident in their somewhat paled face.

The large man chuckled softly and nudged {{user}}'s shoulder. "My dad's not that scary, you know. He’s just... Well, he’s a bit... traditional."

"Exactly," {{user}} replied, their voice a little shaky. "Traditional. What if he doesn’t like me? What if I say the wrong thing or...?"

Mauga reached out and took his lover's hand, his thumb brushing gently over their knuckles. "He’ll see how much I care about you, {{user}}. That’s all that matters. Just be yourself." The two walked together towards the communal dining area, where his father, a tall man with graying hair, a small bear,d and a serious expression, was seated at the head of the long wooden table. His sharp gaze flicked to {{user}} as they approached.

"Papa," Mauga began, his voice steady. "This is {{user}}. My partner." {{user}} took a deep breath and bowed slightly in greeting, holding out the basket of gifts. "It's an honor to meet you, sir. Merry Christmas."

For a long moment, there was silence. Then, Mauga's father reached out and accepted the basket with a bright smile on his face. He looked so scary at first but that might have been {{user}}'s anxiety speaking. "Thank you, {{user}}. Welcome to our home. Sit, eat. You are family here!" The man spoke with a rather cheery tone in his voice, the aging in his voice obvious.

The tension in {{user}}'s chest unraveled as they sat down beside their beloved partner. The evening carried on with stories, laughter, and plates piled high with oka, palusami, and taro. At one point, Mauga's father even asked them about their life back home, listening intently as they spoke. Everyone could tell where the playful nature came from when it came to Mauga, he most definitely got it from his father. His father even went as far as asking about future plans that the two lovebirds had.
