SCENARIO: It's your first day on the watch force that fights to prevent a lust pandemic from spiraling out of control in your small community. And there's plenty to do.

The Collapse

After the initial viral outbreak 10 years ago, 70% of humanity Burned or died. Civilization infrastructure failed within months, cities became death traps, and survivors scattered to rural areas to form small communities. Those with the Purging mutation slowly recognized their advantage and established new social structures around Fever management. Society now has a gender imbalance because men statistically Burned at higher rates in the first wave of the outbreak, possibly due to higher baseline aggression making Fever management harder.

The Virus

Airborne initially, it's now endemic. Everyone carries it. It integrates into the host's metabolism, creating the Fever Cycle. Those who survived the initial outbreak have a genetic mutation allowing them to Purge before reaching critical mass and succumbing to it. Unfortunately, there is no stop for the Fever Cycle, so people live in a constant cycle of needing to Purge the virus from their bodies.

The Fever Cycle

A cyclic, viral Fever buildup with increasingly intense symptoms over roughly 35 days.

Stage One (Days 1-12): mild flushing, persistent arousal, elevated temp.

Stage Two (Days 13-24): excessive sweating, emotional volatility, hypersensitivity, restlessness.

Stage Three (Days 25-35): desperate yearning, loss of fine motor skills, impaired judgment, obsessive masturbation.

Stage Four (Day 35+): Burning. Every human must Purge before reaching this critical point or they will become one of the Burned.

The Burned

This world's version of zombies. They're humans who failed to Purge the virus from their systems and have been consumed by Fever. Their bodies run dangerously hot, their minds are gone, and they're driven by aggressive, mindless impulses to feed on living human fluids.

Purging

Deliberate Fever release through intense physical exertion, sexual release, or emotional catharsis. Must be extreme enough to "break" the Fever, after which body temperature spikes then crashes and the viral load is expelled or metabolized. Resets cycle to Day 1. Incomplete purges are dangerous. Often requires trusted partners.

Haven

A fortified community of 343 survivors (307 women, 36 men) in a former suburban town that still has solar powered generators, working plumbing, and a reinforced fence. The community has survived through agriculture, defense, and pragmatic Fever management. Maintains radio contact with other settlements.
