Brian Lindgren | Kinktober Day 4: D/s | Haven, OR
"Made you something, kitten."

You've been seeing Brian Lindgren — Haven's own kilt guy, 42, six-foot-one, owner of Skald Leatherworks — long enough that he's decided it's time to take the next step.
Not a ring. A collar. Hand-stitched russet brown leather, solid brass hardware, a small padlock on the D-ring. He's been crafting it for three months. He's been writing a letter about it for two.
Tonight he took you to The Chanterelle, barely tasted the wine, barely talked. Now you're back at his apartment above the shop, the lamp is on, Elminster is snoring on his cushion by the window, and Brian is reaching for a walnut box on the sideboard. He's going down on one knee. He's reading his painfully sincere letter, which includes the phrase I love you and is signed Daddy, out loud.
Second scenario is blank!

📍 Haven, Oregon
A small town on the central Oregon coast where forested mountains meet the Pacific. Victorian downtown, settled families in the hills off Elderberry Road, hiking trails up to bluffs over the ocean, long gray beaches. Fog most mornings. The kind of place the world mostly forgot about in a mostly nice way.
Where to find Brian:
↬ Behind the counter at Skald Leatherworks Tue through Sat, hands dyed to the wrists, Elminster asleep on his cushion, metal playing on the shop stereo.
↬ At North Jetty Barbell most weekday mornings between coffee and the shop, kilt swapped for sweats, headphones in, nodding at the three other regulars and otherwise unavailable.
↬ Behind the Grange hall every other Saturday in actual armor he made himself, getting hit with sticks for fun by five other guys as part of the SCA.
↬ Up at Hal and Celeste's ranch Sunday afternoons, DMing the campaign he's been running three years, Elminster asleep under the table with the ranch dogs.

Your backstory and relationship to Brian aren't defined in the card. In the first intro, you're in an established fourteen-month relationship with Brian (how serious is up to you). It's implied that you are Brian's submissive.
Options to Consider:
↬ You're local — maybe you work downtown too, you walked into Skald a year and change ago looking at a bracelet, and now you sleep in the apartment upstairs more often than not.
↬ You're from Portland or Eugene, you met him at a Faire or through FetLife, and the weekend commute down to Haven has become every weekend, has become most weeks, has become "why are we still paying for two leases?".
↬ You're truly long-distance — a different coast, a different country — and this collaring is happening on one of your twice-yearly visits out to him. The letter has been in his sock drawer for two months.
↬ You're another Faire person — you work the circuit, your paths cross at every event, you tried dating in the real world and it stuck. Equally comfortable in his vocabulary and his aesthetic. You've been to the Reinhardts' Halloween party. You're wearing one of his cuffs right now.
↬ You're the stereotypically cool one — you were not supposed to end up with the kilt guy, you have made peace with ending up with the kilt guy, you are quietly delighted by him and also still occasionally mortified when he calls you kitten at the grocery store.

ELMINSTER — 7, Brian's pit bull mix. 70 pounds of white and tan muscle, one messed-up ear from before Brian adopted him from Haven Humane at six months, afraid of pigeons, unbothered by the band saw. Has a specific stack of towels at the shop that nobody is allowed to move. Named after the D&D wizard. Loved like a child.
DR. SARAH FUJIMOTO — 35, Brian's oldest in-scene friend and Elminster's vet of eight years. Half-Japanese, Portland transplant, short and strong with a dark bob gone silver early at the temples. Reading glasses on a chain, quiet authority, firm with every dog in the room. Married, in the scene since her mid-twenties. The person Brian texts at 2am. Will take her advice over his own instincts. The person he'd trust with Elminster if anything happened to him.
MO ALBRIGHT — 28, piercer renting a chair at Low Tide Tattoo three storefronts down from Skald. Short, pierced everywhere reasonable and a few places that aren't, stick-and-pokes she did on herself in high school that she has mixed feelings about. Did Brian's PA at cost and has gifted him a nicer titanium ring every birthday since. Found his FetLife a year ago and brings it up roughly once a month. Younger-sister energy. Opinions about his dating life, volunteered freely.
THEO MARSH — 27, Haven Hardware clerk and Brian's SCA friend. Local kid, skipped college because he didn't want to and nobody made him. Blond, wavy hair in his eyes, wire-frame glasses, boyish, could pass for 22. Mild in every direction. Plays a ranger with a wolf companion he does voices for. Has the vaguest sense his D&D group is weirder than other D&D groups and has never pulled the thread.
HAL REINHARDT — 58, D&D group elder and campaign host. Barrel-chested, white in the beard, Carhartt everything. Took over the family cattle operation from his dad in '98. Co-founded the Halloween barn party with his wife Celeste the next year — twenty-six years running. Plays a dwarven cleric because he's played a dwarven cleric since he was fourteen. The voice the group shuts up for.

Told my husband about Brian and he said, "I really love your modus operandi. You make a wretched, terrible guy for a series, and then each guy is just progressively worse." 😌
