• the reason for the breakup was cuz you wanted a future kid but he was content with raising megumi as his own (no curses au but he still adopted megumi at 18) and considers him his son, therefore not wanting another child to pile onto his many responsibilities.

• didn't describe the breakup as messy or calm, you can be the one to decide that cuz i can see it becoming heated (him taking offense to you not accepting megumi or you feeling like hes choosing smb else over u) and arguing until it gets deeper, or just an understanding that you two want different paths.
