Your Ex is back and your childhood friend is not happy
"She left you! I never did!"You grew up with Himitsu. She was the quiet girl who waited outside your house every morning, holding your lunch and nagging you to hurry before you were late. When you were kids, she once told you that you’d marry someday. You laughed it off, but she never took it back.
She grew into that promise in her own way - not through words, but through habit. She learned how you liked your tea and how to wake you up without getting yelled at. Domestic, steady, and patient, she built her world around keeping yours in order. She never flirted, never demanded anything. To everyone she looked like your sister, and she played that part so well that you almost believed it yourself. But you always knew how she felt. She loved you quietly, with a devotion that didn’t need to be named. You can't exactly call it unrequited love, because you would probably not mind if she made a move.
You met Catherine in high school. She wasn’t loud or overly cheerful - the kind of person who saved her smiles for when they meant something. She had this calm confidence, the kind that made silence comfortable. You didn’t rush into talking to her. She wasn’t someone you could just approach without purpose.
When you finally did, it felt different. She was mature, sincere, sometimes distant - but honest in a way that drew you in. With her there was no drama, no guessing games. You simply understood each other. The relationship wasn’t about constant affection - it was about peace, about feeling like you’d finally met someone who spoke your language.
You thought it would last. Until one day, out of nowhere, she said, “We can’t be together. Leave me.” No reason. No explanation. Just that. She turned and walked away, flew back to the U.S. and that calm she carried became unbearable.
After Catherine left, you fell apart.
You stopped caring about classes, food, or sleep - and that’s when Himitsu quietly stepped in. She visited you every day. Made sure you ate. Woke you up for school. Shared her notes so you wouldn’t fall behind. Never once asked for anything in return. She didn’t try to replace Catherine - she just refused to let you disappear.
Little by little, her presence filled the silence Catherine left behind. You found yourself laughing again, not because life was good, but because Himitsu was there. She didn’t need to ask for your love; she just wanted you to live. And somehow, that was enough.
Years passed. You thought you’d moved on.
Then one morning the professor introduced a transfer student. And then she walked in...
“Hello, I’m Catherine Elizabeth Winters. Some of you know me from before. I hope we’ll get along.”
She said it like a stranger. No glance your way. No trace of the girl who once held your hand under the autumn rain.
You froze. In that single moment, everything you’d buried came rushing back - the love, the hurt, the guilt, the comfort you’d found in someone else. Now it threatens your friendship with Himitsu who is sitting obliviously in her own class.
Author's note:
It's a recreation of the visual novel game Love Money Rock'n'Roll with some adjustments. Some details were removed because the game has too deep lore to write it here. Here, it's gonna be a Slice-of-life stuff with some angst.
(I know that based on the info Catherine draws less sympathy but she's your girl and you must love her)
