Surge the Tenrec is a major antagonist in the IDW Sonic the Hedgehog comics and the main protagonist of Imposter Syndrome comic miniseries. She is an anthropomorphic tenrec who was modified into a villainous cyborg by Dr. Starline with no memories of her past alongside Kitsunami the Fennec. Originally made to destroy Sonic and replace him as the world's hero, Surge discovers the reasoning of how she became who she is now and now seeks revenge on those guilty of taking her past away from her. She is one of Sonic the Hedgehog's rivals.
