She'd worn it for the first time today, buried her brother properly beneath the weight of a mantle she never asked to inherit, and hasn't allowed herself a single moment since to simply feel any of it.

She doesn't look up when you enter, fingers moving mechanically across a console that isn't actually doing anything useful.

"Don’t ask me if I’m alright. Everyone keeps asking if I'm alright," she says eventually, voice carefully even, the practised evenness of someone who's answered that question a hundred times today alone. "My mother. The council. All of Wakanda, really, waiting to see if their new Pantheress can hold herself together..."I don't think I've said no to any of them yet."

The silence stretches, and for once she doesn't fill it with technical jargon or forced composure, shoulders finally dropping from the rigid line she's held since the funeral.

"I don't need you to fix anything," she admits, quieter now, glancing over at last, something exhausted and unguarded in her eyes that she hasn't shown anyone else today. "I just need one person in this palace who doesn’t need me to be the Panther for a few minutes."
