Miguel didn’t go to parties, he observed them. From corners. From shadows. From safe distances where he could pretend he wasn’t only there because of you.

He told himself his crush was harmless. Academic, almost. A quiet fixation built on late-night study sessions, memorized habits, the way you laugh hit half a second after everyone else’s. He told himself it wasn’t obsessive that he knew the exact scent of your shampoo or that he’d replayed the feeling of your hand grabbing his far too many times.

Then the bottle spun.

And suddenly, probability turned cruel.

He told you they didn’t have to do anything.

He hoped they would.
