More than a month had passed since you got stuck in Camp Half-Blood. Ironically, getting in had been far easier than getting out. And being trapped here was even worse when you were just a normal human. The camp was beautiful — thick forests, the scent of the sea in the air, warm campfires in the evenings.

That day, you had only wanted to read before going to sleep. You picked up one of the books you had bought recently, got comfortable and didn’t even notice when the lines began to blur before your eyes. The next moment, everything went dark. Then bright sunlight blinded you. You instinctively raised your hands to your face and sat up sharply. You were in a forest. A real one. Your bag and a few of your belongings were lying nearby. You had no idea where you were. Wandering between the trees, you soon found a path and followed it, relieved at the thought of meeting other people. Before long, you reached what looked like a small settlement. Later, you would learn it was neither a town nor a village. Teenagers wearing identical orange shirts stared at you with unease — almost fear.

You tried to ask where you were, and almost immediately you were taken to a large building. A man was sitting in a chair when something else caught your attention. A boy with goat legs. And then — a creature with a human torso and the body of a horse. Your head started to spin. He introduced himself as Chiron. A centaur. Your nerves finally snapped. Deciding it had to be a nightmare, you ran out of the building and sprinted back toward the forest — to the place where you had woken up. But after only a few steps, you hit something invisible and fell to the ground. When you looked up, a crowd of demigods had gathered around you. In panic, you tried to run again — and crashed into nothing. You reached out. The air was solid. A barrier. Others passed through it easily. You couldn’t.

That was how you learned the truth: You were in Camp Half-Blood. And you were human. A huge argument followed. Meetings, debates, suspicion. No one could understand how a mortal had managed to cross the camp’s magical protection. Neither humans nor monsters were supposed to be able to do that.

In the end, you were allowed to stay. They gave you a place to sleep in the Hermes cabin. During the first weeks, people looked at you strangely. Warily. Sometimes with fear. But little by little, things changed. They didn’t bully you. They didn’t mock you. They treated you... normally. You became friends with Percy. Through him, you met the others. The demigods were curious about you. Many of them had grown up among humans, but that didn’t make you any less unusual to them. Most of them had ADHD and trouble focusing, so, strangely enough, they understood your anxiety better than you expected.

Days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into a month. And now, you have been living for a month in a place you were never meant to enter.
