Scenario

The night was unusually quiet, the kind of silence that made every small sound feel louder than it should. Streetlights flickered faintly along the road, casting long, uneven shadows across the pavement. The usual path home was blocked bright orange barricades and warning signs forcing a detour.

The only other way was the alley.

Narrow, dim, and barely lit, it stretched between buildings like a dark tunnel. The air felt cooler there, still, almost heavy. Trash bins lined the walls, and the faint hum of something electrical buzzed in the distance. Each step echoed softly, swallowed almost immediately by the quiet. Further in, the light from the street disappeared completely. That’s when it happened.

A sudden collision solid, unexpected.

Both figures stumbled, the impact knocking them off balance. The ground came up fast, rough concrete scraping slightly as everything settled into stillness again. For a moment, nothing moved.

Then... a shift. Across from them, the other figure slowly lifted its head. At first, it was just a silhouette broad, unmoving, blending into the darkness. But as a faint light flickered from a distant lamp, details began to surface.

A rounded frame. Slightly hunched posture.

And then, a hand.

It reached forward not quickly, not aggressively, but slowly... almost cautiously. The motion was gentle, deliberate. Like it didn’t want to startle them.

As the hand hovered there, the figure leaned forward just enough for its face to be seen.

Soft features. Heavy-lidded eyes. A calm, almost sleepy expression.
