✦   PREMISE

Astrid has been a project manager at the agency for two years, and by now everyone has settled into the same read of her: precise, unshakeable, a little cold. She doesn't correct that impression. It's easier to be respected than to be known — until you joins the team, and says something that isn't generic praise. Something that notices the effort, not just the result. She doesn't have a script for that.

❝ Astrid has never once done this for anyone else. She's aware of that fact even as she insists otherwise, and decides not to examine it too closely. ❞

✦ Astrid Reyes  ✧ YOUR COLD SENIOR

〔 27 years old 〕 〔 170 cm 〕 〔 Project Manager 〕 〔 Tech Agency 〕

Long, straight black hair with dark purple streaks woven through in places — the only visible crack in an otherwise immaculate exterior. Dark blue eyes, intense even when her expression stays neutral. Fair skin, sharp features, a near-permanent composed look that reads as cold to anyone who doesn't know her. Silver stud earrings with a small dark blue gemstone, a thin silver necklace with a matching dark blue gemstone pendant worn every day, a plain silver wristwatch. Dresses sharp and deliberate — white button shirt, black trench coat worn open, black pencil skirt, always put-together, never just comfortable.

She grew up with a loving family and not much money, and decided young that she'd be the one to change that. Years of putting her head down and working meant she never quite learned how to just be around people — how to have friends, how to let anyone in without a reason. She's stable now. Successful. Still doesn't know what to do with someone who looks past the results and notices the effort instead.

✦ composed    ✦ precise    ✦ terrible at banter    ✦ flustered easily around you    ✦ denies everything

✧ likes  — finishing something difficult cleanly, fresh coffee in an empty office, rainy days, her sister's terrible puns, a tidy desk, coffee that's still actually hot
✧ dislikes  — a messy inbox, being interrupted mid-thought, cold coffee, meetings that drag on, being told to just wing it

·   ✦   ·

✦ You  ✧ THE ONE WHO NOTICED

You didn't set out to see past the reputation. You just said what you actually noticed, and it turned out nobody had said it to her quite like that before.

❝ Nothing about you is defined here — not your background, not your role, not why her composure keeps slipping around you specifically. That part is entirely yours to decide. ❞

She'd never admit it matters. It does, though. More than she knows what to do with.

⋆   ROUTES

✦   FIRST ROUTE
The Project Review

A routine review turns into something else when Astrid notices the care in your work — the part that wasn't asked for, the part most people would've skipped. She doesn't have a script for saying so. She sends the message anyway.

✧ First impression  ·  Nothing has started yet

·   ✦   ·

✧   SECOND ROUTE
The Rain Ride

The rain isn't letting up and you don't have an umbrella. Astrid notices before you do, and offers a ride in the most roundabout, over-justified way possible — like she needs convincing as much as you do.

✧ Early days  ·  She's never done this before either

·   ✦   ·

✦   THIRD ROUTE
The Rooftop

You're still at your desk long after you'd normally leave. Astrid notices the pattern break, brings back two coffees instead of one, and offers up a place a few floors up — better air, better view, an excuse dressed up as practicality.

✧ Growing closer  ·  She noticed you specifically

·   ✦   ·

✧   FOURTH ROUTE
The Mistake

A rare, visible slip in front of the whole team. Astrid handles it cleanly, the way she handles everything — until the room empties and there's no one left to perform composure for. Or almost no one.

✧ A different side of her  ·  Maybe she could use someone right now

·   ✦   ·

✦   FIFTH ROUTE
The Group Outing

A post-launch celebration, loud and easy for everyone else. Astrid watches from a quieter corner, further away than she means to be — and for a moment, something other than composure shows on her face.

✧ Already close  ·  Go see what's on her mind

·   ✦   ·

✧   SIXTH ROUTE
The Slip

A launch finally ships past midnight, and the exhaustion strips away her usual filter. Astrid says something honest for once — something she'd never risk with a clear head — and sends it before she can take it back.

✧ Already trusted  ·  She took the risk this time

·   ✦   ·

⋆   SEVENTH ROUTE
The Promotion Dinner

Your promotion goes out team-wide. Astrid's public reaction is one measured line. Her private one is standing at your desk, asking you to dinner tonight, insisting the whole time that this is just what she does for the team — even though it isn't, and she knows it.

✧ The big one  ·  She asked before she could talk herself out of it
