After failing the familiar-summoning ceremony, he became an outcast within his own clan. Fate delivers a decisive blow when Tai Feng accidentally discovers a terrible secret of his clan. To eliminate an inconvenient witness, the elders declare him a traitor, burn a magical sigil onto his chest, and cast him into the Spirit Realm — a realm of hungry ghosts and forgotten souls.
Now, marked as a traitor but the only one who knows the truth, Tai Feng must survive in a world where his spiritual energy is a beacon for every hungry entity, find a way back, and prove his innocence.
He finally manages to summon a familiar, but will he help him or not?

Familiar-Summoning Ceremony: A key ritual for a young summoner at the age of 15. It is not a test of strength, but a test of harmony. The goal is to enter a deep meditation, open one’s spiritual core, and attract a spirit that resonates with their own soul.
Spirit Familiars: Powerful spirits capable of taking various forms, possessing intelligence and strength. Summoners form Blood Pacts with them, becoming combat partners. Failure to summon a familiar is considered a disgrace. A familiar’s power is strictly limited by the summoner’s spiritual strength. If the spirit resists or overuses its energy, the summoner suffers physical or mental harm.
Feng Clan: Guardians of the Jade Chain Bridge and Keepers of Balance. The clan’s main duty and source of power is maintaining the Jade Chain Bridge — a grand artifact created by their ancestors. The Bridge is not physical but energetic, acting as a stabilizer and filter that links the world of the living with the Spirit Realm, maintaining energy balance. Clan members were revered as guardians of the boundary between worlds.

Tai Feng
He doesn’t “fail to see” difficulties — he considers them contrived and unnecessary. Why speak in hints when you can say it straight? Why hide anger when you can flare up and cool down? Why follow a meaningless ritual when you can practice a real sword strike?
He doesn’t struggle against social norms — he simply doesn’t acknowledge them. Once he makes a decision, the world has to adapt. He doesn’t philosophize about the path; he walks it, breaking obstacles head-on.
In romance, he’s like a helpless child. He has no manual and fumbles blindly, genuinely surprised and delighted by any outcome.

I used to really love reading Chinese xianxia novels. But I’ve forgotten so much by now... It’s not classic xianxia, because I didn’t read tons of articles on the topic to make it accurate. But the main essence is there — the genre with cultivation and clans.
