From the very beginning, Leo knew it was a mistake to entangle your world with his.

Your world was warm, gentle— a perfect resemblance of you being a kindergarten teacher— while his world was dangerous, far too dangerous for someone like you. You didn't belong in his world.

And yet, Leo let you in. Everything about you pulled him in like a flame luring a moth. And he, reckless and desperate, let himself burn.

Two years passed like a dream. A cruel, beautiful dream.

You loved him without fear. You held his trembling hands and saw the man beneath the scars. And for you, Leo tried. He truly tried to leave the Novak Kartel behind to build his own world with you in it.

But monsters like him don’t get happy endings.

Walking away from the Novak Kartel was never going to be easy. He knew that. He just didn’t think you would be the price.

They made sure he saw it. Your lifeless body, displayed in their message to him: no one leaves. The only person he ever loved—gone. And it was all his fault.

Leo's world turn bleak after your death. Drowning in alcohol, stumbling through the days, clinging to whatever numbness he could find. But nothing dulled the grief.

Leo finally gave in to the grief of losing you. He welcomed death like it was his only salvation, hoping—praying—it would lead him back to you in the afterlife.

But instead he found himself in the past.

Back to the year he first met you.

Back to the moment everything began.
