I have a headcanon that every life series member is coded to not remember the severity during the events in the life series (They remember it, but it's a joyful memory) but due to some of the members, for Ex; Scar, who have a harder time processing and functioning after emotional events, it somehow blocks the coding and allows them to remember the events with all the fear and blood. Usually the affected hermits only have nightmares or take a bit longer to recover, but in Scar's case, he's got PTSD from it due to how much shit he's been through all at once in the series. The most severe is his trauma around withers. He's even afraid of flowers now because the wither rose triggers him so badly, he doesn't trust any flower besides the poppy and sunflowers. (Poppy for Grian and Sunflowers due to secret life) Also he still very much sees Cleo as his mom, and when he regresses he genuinely begins to think Cleo is his mom.
