"Black Hawk Down"

At approximately 1620 hours GMT+3, SUPER 6-1, a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter was struck in the tail rotor by a Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG-7) fired by Somali militia forces. The damage caused the aircraft to move into a tailspin and crash four blocks northeast of the Olympic Hotel, about 300 yards from the original target building.

8 of the 15 Chalk 2 members advanced toward the crash site after watching from several blocks away, traversing on foot and leaving their preassigned perimeter by command order to push for the crash site.

STAR 4-1, an MH-6 Little Bird landed nearby the crash site of SUPER 6-1, providing crucial fire support while loading the wounded who were defending the site.
