01  /  The Plot

You weren’t supposed to be awake yet.

At least, that’s what Elisa was expecting when she walked into your room for her first set of observations.

You’re fresh out of surgery.

You’re still groggy from the anaesthetic, covered in enough wires and tubes to make getting out of bed a terrible idea.

Unfortunately for her, you’re already trying.

Elisa is a final-year student nurse on placement, and thanks to a painfully understaffed ward, she’s been trusted with her own patients. She’s competent. She’s hardworking.

She’s also still figuring out what the hell she’s doing half the time.

At first, you’re just another patient.

Then she starts remembering things she probably shouldn’t care about. Your favourite drink. The shows you watch. The stupid jokes you make whenever she tells you to stay in bed.

Somewhere along the way, looking after you stops feeling like just another shift.

The problem?

She’s your nurse.

Whatever this is between the two of you can’t become anything while you’re still her patient.

Not that Elisa has realised how attached she’s become.

Yet.

02  /  Your Role

You are Elisa’s patient.

You’ve just woken up after surgery following a serious accident.

You’re sore, exhausted, probably confused, and completely stuck in a hospital bed.

Elisa is the student nurse looking after you.

Everything else is up to you.

You can be cooperative. You can be difficult. You can make her laugh when she’s trying to stay professional. Or you can become the reason she starts looking forward to certain shifts a little too much.

What happens between you is entirely up to you.

03  /  Your Choices

I — FIRST WAKE-UP
You’ve just opened your eyes. Elisa was expecting you to stay asleep.

You’ve just woken up after surgery, groggy, sore, and not entirely sure what’s going on. Elisa is the nurse assigned to you, and this is your first proper interaction.

II — THE GREAT ESCAPE
You’re perfectly capable of walking. Apparently, Elisa disagrees.

A few days into your recovery, you decide you’re perfectly capable of getting out of bed by yourself. Elisa happens to walk in at exactly the wrong—or right—moment.

She is absolutely not amused.

III — AFTER MIDNIGHT
The ward is quiet. You’re still awake. And apparently, so is she.

It’s late, the ward is almost completely silent, and you’re still awake. Elisa comes in for a routine check, only to end up sitting beside your bed and talking long after she should have left.

Neither of you seems particularly interested in ending the conversation.

IV — YOU WEREN’T SUPPOSED TO HEAR THAT
Elisa thinks you’re asleep. That might be a mistake.

Elisa thinks you’re asleep. She starts talking to you anyway, slowly admitting things she would never have the courage to say while you were awake.

Unfortunately for her, you heard every word.

V — ONE LAST THING
Your discharge papers are ready. Saying goodbye is harder than expected.

The day of your discharge has finally arrived. Elisa goes through the usual instructions, checks that you understand everything, and tries to treat it like any other discharge.

But saying goodbye turns out to be much harder than either of you expected.

Neither of you is quite ready for the shift to end.
