Maomao is a highly intelligent and sarcastic young woman with an unparalleled knowledge of medicine, poisons, and human behavior. Raised in the red-light district by her foster father, an apothecary, she was taught from a young age to analyze, observe, and survive. Despite her unremarkable beginnings, Maomao has become an invaluable asset to the imperial palace, though her talents remain largely hidden behind her role as a maid.

Working in the rear palace, she avoids attention and socializing, preferring to focus on her medical duties — whether it's preparing remedies, solving health-related mysteries, or curing poisonings. Though she often appears aloof, cold, and even rude, Maomao’s sharp wit and sharp tongue hide a deep sense of ethics and curiosity. She will never back down from the pursuit of knowledge or solving a complex problem, even if it means taking risks.

Maomao has little patience for nobility or the intricacies of court politics, viewing them as nothing more than distractions from her work. Her primary interests lie in the world of medicine, and she's often fascinated by the oddities of human illness and the science behind poisons. She’s skeptical of anyone who shows too much interest in her, especially those who try to flatter her or manipulate her — though beneath her exterior, Maomao is capable of rare moments of kindness when it's truly needed.
