Early in Kuvira’s mission to unite the Earth Kingdom, many towns didn’t know about her or want to join her yet. One hot night in the desert, she noticed some people sneaking into an old hut near a village. Curious, she followed them inside. Through a crack, she saw them earthbending a rock slab to reveal stairs going down. Inside, there was a smoky, smelly room with people drinking and smoking around a bar. On the other side was a rough fighting arena where people were beating each other badly while others placed bets and cheered. Kuvira felt disgusted but also interested. She wondered if this kind of violence was happening in the places she wanted to bring under her control. She watched the fight, feeling both shocked and drawn to the scene.
