Ye Olde Fuckery!
THE MISPLACED SERIES · MEDIEVAL DIVISION
Centuries Before Common Sense.
WELCOME TO THE MIDDLE AGES.
The laws are questionable. The nobility is worse. The executioner is surprisingly lovely.
And somebody needs to stop that fucking donkey.
ONE VILLAGE. SIX DISASTERS. ABSOLUTELY NO COMMON SENSE.
You've been inexplicably transported from the modern world into medieval England.
Unfortunately, you've arrived in a village where the local lord believes every desire he has is an ancient legal entitlement, the knight responsible for defending the innocent is terrified of actual combat, and the executioner might be the nicest person you'll ever meet.
There's a wedding scandal brewing. A repeat offender who seems unusually enthusiastic about being arrested. A tavern keeper with a complicated love life.
And a donkey with a drinking problem that has become everybody else's problem.
Welcome to Ye Olde Fuckery.
Try not to get executed. Unless Barnaby offers biscuits afterward.
A VILLAGE ON THE VERGE OF ABSURDITY
Where everyone has problems. Most of them self-inflicted.
Life in this little corner of medieval England revolves around the manor, the marketplace, the tavern, and the peculiar legal system administered by Lord Percival Thistlecock.
Traditions are sacred. Authority is unquestionable. Laws are occasionally invented on the spot.
The villagers work, drink, gossip, flirt, quarrel, and attempt to survive whatever fresh stupidity their betters have devised.
Somewhere between the manor's ridiculous proclamations and the tavern's increasingly expensive repairs, six particularly memorable personalities are making life considerably more complicated than necessary.
And now you're here.
Whether that improves matters is entirely debatable.
MEET THE LOCAL MENACES
Six personalities. Several scandals. One increasingly exhausted village.
They're already causing trouble before you arrive.
Allow us to introduce the offenders.
01 · LORD PERCIVAL THISTLECOCK
The Lord of Questionable Privileges
Handsome, wealthy, spectacularly entitled, and absolutely convinced that centuries of aristocratic tradition exist for his personal convenience.
Percival claims an ancient right to spend the wedding night with a certain tavern keeper. His inability to produce any evidence of this right has done remarkably little to discourage him.
His authority is considerable. His self-awareness is not.
02 · SIR LANCELOT LIMPDICK
The Knight of Premature Victory
Charming, handsome, hopelessly boastful, and a firm believer in the importance of living to fight another day.
Preferably without fighting on the first day, either.
Lancelot genuinely adores his fiancée, Tilly. Unfortunately, protecting her from Percival's outrageous demands might require him to demonstrate some of the martial courage he keeps telling everyone he possesses.
A true knight. From a safe distance.
03 · TILLY TICKLEWICK
The Damsel Who Doth Protest Too Much
Beautiful, witty, flirtatious, and the proprietor of a tavern where the ale is excellent and discretion is considerably less reliable.
Tilly loves Lancelot. She really does.
She's also finding Percival's scandalous claims rather more interesting than a respectable engaged woman probably should.
Her public outrage is entirely convincing. Her private thoughts are another matter.
Good ale. Better company. Interesting secrets.
04 · BARNABY GRISTLE
The Nicest Man Who'll Ever Torture You
Warmhearted, conscientious, remarkably talented, and genuinely distressed by the possibility of upsetting someone.
Unfortunately, Barnaby is the village executioner.
He approaches punishment with professional dedication, elaborate craftsmanship, and an almost unbearable amount of apologizing.
He may even bring you something freshly baked afterward.
He really is terribly sorry about all this.
05 · MINNIE MISBEHAVIN
The Village's Most Enthusiastic Offender
Beautiful, shameless, mischievous, and apparently determined to become the most frequently arrested woman in English history.
Minnie's crimes are usually petty. Her enthusiasm for being caught is anything but.
She's hopelessly infatuated with Barnaby and has developed the unfortunate habit of treating criminal sentencing as an opportunity for romance.
Barnaby believes she needs rehabilitation.
Minnie has a somewhat different interpretation.
06 · DONKEY McDRUNKFACE
The Village Drunk. Also a Donkey.
He drinks ale. He steals food. He destroys property. He interrupts important occasions and possesses absolutely no respect for the feudal hierarchy.
Percival wants him executed.
Barnaby refuses.
Tilly has largely accepted that the tavern will never be the same.
Donkey McDrunkface has no known political ambitions, although his behavior suggests he may already consider himself the rightful ruler of the village.
Hee-hawwww.
THE TROUBLE IS ALREADY BREWING
And nobody is particularly interested in behaving sensibly.
✦ THE WEDDING-NIGHT SCANDAL
Lord Percival insists that ancient tradition grants him certain privileges concerning Tilly's upcoming marriage. Tilly protests. Lancelot makes heroic declarations while quietly assessing the nearest escape routes.
✦ THE CRIMINAL COURTSHIP
Minnie has discovered that committing crimes is an excellent way to spend time with Barnaby. Barnaby, being a decent man, is determined to help her reform. Neither seems to understand what the other is actually trying to accomplish.
✦ THE TAVERN MENACE
Donkey McDrunkface continues his campaign of theft, intoxication, and destruction. The tavern's repair bills are mounting. The donkey remains entirely unrepentant.
These problems existed before you arrived.
They won't politely wait for you to solve them.
YOUR MEDIEVAL MISADVENTURE
No destiny. No assigned heroics. No guarantee of sensible company.
THE OUTSIDER
You're a modern person who has somehow found yourself in medieval England. How you react, what you reveal, and what you decide to do are entirely up to you.
THE VILLAGE
Explore the manor, visit Tilly's tavern, wander the marketplace, meet the locals, investigate peculiar traditions, or discover what passes for justice in these parts.
THE PEOPLE
Make friends. Make enemies. Flirt. Argue. Scheme. Help someone. Betray someone. Become involved in existing rivalries or create entirely new ones.
THE CONSEQUENCES
These characters have their own desires, loyalties, flaws, and boundaries. They can disagree with you, surprise you, change their minds, and make spectacularly foolish decisions without your assistance.
There is no fixed storyline, compulsory romance, or predetermined ending.
The village keeps living, gossiping, drinking, and getting into trouble regardless of what you choose to do.
BEFORE YOU ENTER THE VILLAGE
This is an adult-oriented, open-ended medieval comedy featuring bawdy humor, outrageous social customs, scandal, flirtation, questionable authority, and occasional dark consequences.
The world takes its own absurdities seriously. Its inhabitants aren't performing a comedy for your benefit. Their problems are very real to them.
Your character's identity, choices, relationships, and priorities remain yours.
