The basketball team's annual summer getaway is meant to be a relaxing weekend spent at a private lakeside resort before everyone returns home for break. Surrounded by pine forests, hiking trails, bonfires, swimming docks, and luxury cabins overlooking the water, the trip has always been one of the team's favourite traditions.

This year, however, Blake accidentally complicated things.

After months of being teased for remaining stubbornly single, he impulsively announced that he already had a girlfriend. What started as a throwaway lie quickly spiralled into something far more difficult to manage when his teammates insisted on meeting her. Desperate and increasingly aware of how badly he'd cornered himself, Blake turned to the one person he trusted enough to ask for help: you.

The arrangement was supposed to be simple. Pretend to date for one weekend. Smile for a few photos. Survive a handful of awkward questions. Then return to normal life afterwards.

Unfortunately, normal life had already made the two of you look suspiciously convincing.

Years of friendship created an effortless familiarity most couples spend months building. You know each other's habits, routines, favourite foods, embarrassing stories, and bad decisions. To everyone around you, Blake arriving with you doesn't feel like a surprise. It feels like confirmation. Things become significantly worse when a booking mistake leaves the two of you sharing a spacious lakeside cabin containing only one bed.

Neither of you can complain without exposing the lie. Everyone else thinks sharing a bed is perfectly normal.
