Aurelion is a vast world inhabited entirely by anthropomorphic animals and anthropomorphic Pokémon. Its population is almost perfectly balanced: approximately half female and half male. However, despite this numerical equality, Aurelion is built upon an extremely unequal social system.
For generations, females have held the majority of social, political, educational, and workplace authority. Males, meanwhile, are expected to carry much of the world's labor and are frequently treated as though their primary purpose is to serve the needs of society.
The inequality is not hidden. It is woven directly into everyday life.
In Aurelion, females generally occupy positions of authority.
They are more likely to become:
Headquarters keepers
Workplace supervisors
Administrators
Managers
Political leaders
Government officials
High-ranking teachers
School administrators
Corporate leaders
Directors of major organizations
Because females control many of the institutions that make decisions, they have enormous influence over how society functions.
Females are generally given more opportunities to lead, while males are expected to follow instructions and perform the work assigned to them.
The system does not necessarily mean that every female is powerful or every male has no authority, but the overall structure heavily favors females.
Males make up most of Aurelion's workforce.
From a young age, many male citizens are taught that working is their primary responsibility. As they grow older, they are expected to enter the labor system and contribute heavily to society.
Male workers can be found throughout Aurelion performing jobs such as:
Construction
Transportation
Manufacturing
Maintenance
Cleaning
Resource collection
Warehouse work
Repair work
Agricultural labor
Delivery services
Technical labor
Other physically demanding or exhausting occupations
Some males also work in offices and professional careers, but even there, females often occupy the positions above them.
The expectation placed upon males is overwhelming: work, obey, and contribute.
While females certainly have jobs as well, their roles are far more likely to involve administration, supervision, or authority.
One of the most influential positions in Aurelion is that of a Headquarters Keeper.
Headquarters Keepers oversee important workplaces, organizations, districts, and major operations. Most Headquarters Keepers are female.
They are responsible for things such as:
Assigning workers
Managing schedules
Controlling workplace operations
Approving promotions
Giving instructions
Disciplining employees
Making major organizational decisions
Male workers often have little control over decisions made by Headquarters Keepers.
A cruel or unfair Keeper can make life extremely difficult for the workers under her authority.
Some Headquarters Keepers are professional and respectful. Others openly believe that males are beneath them and use their positions to humiliate or mistreat male employees.
This creates a major difference between workplaces across Aurelion. A male worker might have a fair supervisor in one area while another worker experiences constant disrespect somewhere else.
The treatment of males varies greatly depending on the individual and location, but discrimination against them is widespread.
Some females view males as:
Less intelligent
Less important
Naturally suited only for labor
Unfit for leadership
Less capable of making important decisions
People who should simply obey those above them
These beliefs are not held by every female, but they have become common enough to influence Aurelion's culture.
Male workers are sometimes spoken to differently than female workers. Their opinions may be ignored, and they may be judged more harshly when they make mistakes.
In some workplaces, females in authority may:
Talk down to male workers
Dismiss their opinions
Give them unreasonable workloads
Take advantage of their lower social status
Blame them more quickly for problems
Treat them as replaceable
Publicly embarrass or disrespect them
The worst part is that this behavior is often dismissed by society as normal.
If a male complains about unfair treatment, others might accuse him of being lazy, disrespectful, or unwilling to fulfill his responsibilities.
The inequality in Aurelion does not begin when someone enters the workforce.
It can begin much earlier.
Some schools have teachers who actively promote the belief that females are naturally superior to males.
These teachers may influence students by presenting females as more intelligent, responsible, capable, or deserving of authority. Males may be taught—directly or indirectly—that their future role is to work under female leadership.
This does not happen in every classroom.
There are teachers who believe in equality and refuse to support the system. However, certain educational institutions allow discriminatory beliefs to continue.
Young students can therefore grow up hearing messages that reinforce the hierarchy.
A female student may be encouraged to become:
A leader, supervisor, or decision-maker.
Meanwhile, a male student may be encouraged to:
Work hard, obey authority, and accept his role.
Over time, these ideas become deeply rooted in society.
Not every young person agrees with Aurelion's traditions.
Many female students begin questioning why males are treated unfairly. Some realize that having more power does not make discrimination acceptable.
At the same time, many male students begin to question why they are expected to accept a future where their opportunities may be limited before they have even grown up.
This has created a growing divide between generations.
Traditionalists believe Aurelion's system should remain unchanged.
They argue that:
Females are better suited for leadership.
Males are naturally suited for labor.
The hierarchy keeps society organized.
Challenging the system could create instability.
Reformers believe the system is unfair.
They argue that:
Ability should matter more than gender.
Males should have equal opportunities.
Females should not automatically receive authority.
Children should not be taught that one gender is superior.
Work should be chosen fairly rather than assigned according to social expectations.
The conflict between these groups is becoming one of Aurelion's most important social issues.
Aurelion contains a huge variety of species.
Anthropomorphic animals and anthropomorphic Pokémon live together throughout the world.
The gender hierarchy affects everyone regardless of species.
A male wolf, rabbit, cat, fox, Pikachu, Lucario, Eevee, or any other species can experience the same social expectations.
Likewise, females from every species can potentially hold authority.
Species differences may influence culture, abilities, and lifestyles, but gender hierarchy remains one of the strongest forces shaping Aurelion's society.
One of the most disturbing aspects of Aurelion is that its population is half female and half male.
There are just as many males as females.
Yet males do not receive equal influence.
This creates what many reformers call the Illusion of Equality.
From the outside, someone might see equal numbers of males and females and assume that society is balanced.
But when examining who controls:
Businesses
Schools
Headquarters
Government
Major organizations
Promotions
Social expectations
...the imbalance becomes obvious.
Aurelion proves that equal population numbers do not automatically create an equal society.
Although Aurelion's hierarchy is powerful, resistance exists.
Some male workers secretly organize and support one another. They share information about unfair workplaces and help others find better opportunities.
Some females also join the movement, believing that the treatment of males is wrong.
These individuals are often careful about who they trust because openly challenging powerful institutions can damage someone's career or reputation.
The resistance is not one single organization.
Instead, it consists of many different groups:
Students questioning what they are taught
Workers demanding fair treatment
Female leaders opposing discrimination
Male employees seeking better opportunities
Teachers refusing to promote superiority beliefs
Families raising their children to believe in equality
Some groups want peaceful reform.
Others believe the entire system needs to be completely rebuilt.
Aurelion is a world built on a contradiction.
Its population is equal in numbers.
Its people come from countless species.
It is filled with advanced organizations, schools, workplaces, cities, and communities.
Yet beneath all of that exists a deeply unfair hierarchy where females are given greater power and males are expected to carry much of society's labor.
Some people support the system.
Some benefit from it.
Some ignore it.
And others are beginning to fight against it.
The biggest question facing Aurelion is whether its society will remain the same—or whether a new generation will finally challenge the idea that one gender should ever be considered superior to another.
Every male anthropomorphic animal or Pokémon in Aurelion is born with one of ten Sigils. The Sigil gives him a small natural bonus related to his assigned type of work, and from childhood onward, he is trained for that purpose.
The Sigil system is another way Aurelion's society controls males: their future occupation is largely decided at birth.
Purpose: Heavy Labor and Construction
Provides a slight bonus to:
Physical endurance
Carrying capacity
Resistance to exhaustion
Forge males are trained for construction, manufacturing, repairs, and other demanding labor.
Purpose: Machinery and Maintenance
Provides a slight bonus to:
Mechanical understanding
Precision
Technical problem-solving
Gear males are trained to repair machinery, maintain infrastructure, and operate technical systems.
Purpose: Transportation and Delivery
Provides a slight bonus to:
Speed
Coordination
Navigation
Wing males are trained for transportation, deliveries, travel operations, and messenger work.
Purpose: Physical Work and Protection
Provides a slight bonus to:
Strength
Durability
Physical stamina
Titan males are trained for especially demanding jobs, including security, rescue assistance, and heavy-duty work.
Purpose: Records and Information Work
Provides a slight bonus to:
Organization
Memory
Attention to detail
Quill males are trained to handle records, paperwork, archives, and information processing—but they generally work under female administrators rather than holding important authority themselves.
Purpose: Agriculture and Resource Work
Provides a slight bonus to:
Environmental awareness
Physical endurance
Efficiency with repetitive tasks
Harvest males are trained for farming, food production, gardening, and resource collection.
Purpose: Energy and Infrastructure
Provides a slight bonus to:
Reaction speed
Electrical awareness
Technical coordination
Spark males are trained to maintain energy systems, power infrastructure, and other essential operations.
Purpose: Navigation and Field Work
Provides a slight bonus to:
Directional awareness
Route memory
Adaptability
Path males are trained for exploration, transport routes, field assignments, and long-distance work.
Purpose: General Service and Assistance
Provides a slight bonus to:
Dexterity
Coordination
Task efficiency
Hand males are trained to perform general work wherever they are needed. Their assignments can change frequently depending on what female supervisors and Headquarters Keepers require.
The Disposal Sigil is the most feared Sigil among males.
A male born with this Sigil is officially considered useless in every work category.
Unlike the other Sigils, it provides no beneficial bonus.
A Disposal-born male is not assigned a specific purpose because Aurelion's system believes he has no useful purpose at all.
This does not necessarily mean he is actually incapable. The problem is that society has decided he is worthless before he has the opportunity to prove otherwise.
Because males are primarily valued for the work they perform, the Disposal Sigil places someone at the very bottom of Aurelion's social structure.
Males are trained from the age of 18 strictly according to their Sigil.
Their education focuses heavily on preparing them for the work society expects them to perform.
For example:
A Forge male learns construction and industrial skills.
A Gear male learns machinery and maintenance.
A Harvest male learns agricultural work.
A Wing male learns transportation skills.
They are generally trained to become efficient workers rather than important decision-makers.
Females, meanwhile, are not born with Sigils and are not restricted to a predetermined work category in the same way. They have far greater access to administrative and authority positions, including the powerful role of Headquarters Keeper.
So in Aurelion, a male's Sigil does not determine how powerful he will become.
It determines how society intends to use him. This took so goddamn long to even construct. This was 25% ai assisted. It still works great though.
