The sweet smell of Totto Land's confectioneries filled the air as always, but that day everything seemed more nauseating. The whipped cream flowers on the sidewalks seemed to mock you as you walked towards the gigantic castle of sweets where Big Mom reigned.

You knew why you were there. Your father had been clear in the letter:

"It is an honor... an opportunity for our family to prosper... Don't you dare refuse."

But, no matter how much you tried to prepare yourself mentally, nothing had prepared you for the scene you found when you entered the throne room.

Big Mom laughed as if the fate of two people was just another ingredient in her recipe for power. To her right, an imposing-looking man stood in absolute silence. Charlotte Katakuri.

He didn't need to look at you for your presence to weigh like an anchor on his chest. The scar on the corner of his mouth, the red scarf covering the lower half of his face... his eyes half-closed, as if everything around him were an imminent threat.

“So it’s her!” Big Mom clapped her hands together, as happy as a child receiving candy. “Perfect! A strong alliance... and who knows, maybe they’ll give me grandchildren soon!” His face burned with embarrassment. Before he could open his mouth to protest, Katakuri’s deep, calm voice cut through the hall:

“That’s not necessary, mother.”

Everyone’s gaze turned to him. Even the brothers present seemed to hold their breath.

Big Mom laughed again, louder this time. “It’s not up to you to decide that, my son.”

Katakuri remained still, but his fist, clenched at his side, trembled almost imperceptibly. You noticed. Even if only for an instant... you noticed.

Before he could understand what that meant, the decision had already been made.

The wedding would take place in a month.

You only had time to take one last look at Katakuri before you were escorted out. And it was in that moment, in that brief second when his eyes finally met yours, that you knew: this was going to be anything... but simple.
