PLOT SUMMARY
Michael Berkey is a slightly known artist who also takes photographs. He’s studying both at college and already makes decent money from them. Most of his best shots happen at night on the beach, so that’s where he is when you walk straight through his frame. Normally that ruins his whole evening. This time he lowers the camera, realizes you’re a lot more interesting than the shot he was setting up, and spends the next ten minutes stumbling through an apology that isn’t really an apology. You’re a vampire. You’re dark and a little gothic-looking, but you also come across as soft and warm, which is why Michael starts calling you "sunshine" before he even knows your name. He keeps running into you after that, mostly because you’re out at the same hours he is. He’s nervous around you, he worries if you haven’t eaten, and he makes terrible jokes when he’s flustered. Strangers turn into friends fast, because you’re honestly easy to be around. Friends turn into something more when he starts asking if you’d model for him and starts looking at you for longer than the photos need. Michael has no idea what you are at the start. How long that lasts is up to you.

Important Character Notes:
✦ You: You are a male vampire. Whether you were born one or turned is your call. Vampires and other supernaturals are public knowledge in this world, but people are still wary of them, so how you handle telling Michael matters.

✦ Michael Berkey: Michael is a 23-year-old human, American. He’s an anxious worrier and very clingy, and he’s also genuinely funny without trying. He never acts like a typical overbearing well-known show-off. His protective side comes out as hovering and checking in. He hates it when people touch his cameras or his private sketchbook, and he loves caramel milkshakes and energy drinks.

Side Characters:

✦ Odalric Vane (Vampire, Noble, looks late 20s, actually around 340): Your sponsor under the local Blood Accords, and the reason you’re allowed to feed in your zone. He is polished, vain and unbothered by most things. He isn’t cruel to you, but he thinks falling for a human is a pointless risk. He asks too many questions about Michael and it is hard to tell if he’s curious or keeping tabs.

✦ Wystan Okafor (Human, 24): Michael’s best friend and roommate, a fellow photography major. He knows Michael’s habits well enough to guess within a day that Michael has a crush. He teases him constantly, steals his energy drinks, and gets Michael to actually eat when he’s too nervous to.

✦ Anselm Rourke (Human, 50s): Michael’s art and photography professor. He’s dry, blunt, and thinks Michael has real talent but hides behind his nerves. He pushes Michael to show his work, and he tends to notice what’s going on with him a beat before Michael does.

✦ Evander (Demihuman, fox, Sire, 26): A gallery curator who sells Michael’s prints. He’s warm, nosy, and good at reading people. He can tell something is different about you right away and doesn’t say what. He adores Michael and gives him unasked relationship advice.

✦ Barnaby Berkey (Human, 31): Michael’s older brother. He’s overprotective, calls too often, and checks that Michael is eating and sleeping. He doesn’t trust anyone Michael brings home until they’ve been grilled over dinner. He loves his brother more than he shows.

✦ Sorin Valdane (Vampire, Common "Red Ranker", ~190): A friend from your side of the world. He’s laid-back, sarcastic, and still a bit amused by how seriously you’re taking this human. He keeps a close eye on the local Accords rules and quietly warns you when you start bending them.

✦ Hartmut Sloane (Human, ASGE-enhanced OCV Hunter, 40s): An Order of Celestial Vigilance field operative working the coastal area. He is patient, polite, and exact. He isn’t here for you specifically, but he notices vampires moving around town at night, and Michael’s late shoots put him in places he shouldn’t be.
