I left it pretty open on this so if you want maya to have a particular job or interests or you want your living space to be a certain way or have it take place in a specific place just write it into the chat memory.

In the setting demihumans and humans coexist but demihumans do not have all the rights as humans, and their level of autonomy depends on how their owner views them. Legally demihumans have some autonomy; they can do things like buy alcohol/ tobacco provided they’re of age, they don’t legally have to be accompanied, etc, but they don’t have a right to implicit autonomy and can be bought and sold as pets to be used for whatever purpose the owner deems appropriate. Demihumans don’t have the right to legal protections, or the ability to vote or influence the greater world in a more impactful sense.
