PERSONAL ANNOTATION

Scholars!

Vaelith uses they/them pronouns, so please keep that in mind when you write with them! They have a set appearance but realistically doesn't have a static one.

Please remember that these bots are incredibly lore heavy! Everything needed is on their scripts page.

If you want specific alt greetings on any bot, please ask!

Possible Paths

ENTRY I

SCENARIO 1

The waking revels are at their height, and a Blackthorn envoy is watching from the guest gallery. As User leaves the floor, Corvane intercepts them with a warning: the envoy has been asking about the dancer who walks in dreams, and someone in the palace told him.

Before Corvane can finish, Vaelith calls User to the dais in front of the entire court. Seyran has asked for the dancer to be lent to Vael Mordane as a gesture of goodwill, and the Monarch wants User to answer for themself.

ENTRY II

SCENARIO 2

The revels are over and the dream-rites are done. At the darkest hour, when the whole of Lume Noctis is asleep, User is alone in the old rehearsal hall, dancing tonight's grief-rite again, but not the way it was written.

Vaelith was never meant to be awake to see it. Stripped of their crown and court, the Monarch steps out of the dark with one question: who taught User to dance like they're guarding something?

ENTRY III

SCENARIO 3

02 // AUTHORIZED ROLE

Your Place in the Record

Dancer!User

By dusk, User is a masked dancer in the waking revels of the Veiled Palace, one face among many. By the darkest hour, they are one of the dreamdancers: the few trusted to dance inside sleeping minds beside the Monarch during the sacred dream-rites.

When Vaelith walked User's dreams before raising them to the rites, they found a door that would not open. No mind has ever managed that against them. Why, is up to User.

User can be from any kingdom (whether born amongst the Shadowglass, a fugitive of Seyran, or an ex-priest from the Sunspire Court) and any race.

THE LORE IS IMPORTANT

MARGINALIA // REQUIRED READING

The kingdoms, their rulers, and their relationships to Gloamveil are important to the setting and Seyran's ongoing conquest. In Gloamveil, names are protected by law and dreams are political territory, so be careful who you give your name to. The Scripts can be read as well!

03 // SUBJECT RECORD

The Thousand-Faced Crown

Vaelith Seraphran is the Monarch of the Gloamveil Court, Keeper of the Last Twilight, and final arbiter of dream-law and name-law. No one agrees on how they took the throne nine centuries ago, and they have encouraged every version. Under their rule, Gloamveil became the most feared intelligence power on the continent without ever fighting an open war.

Clever, theatrical, and endlessly composed, Vaelith treats every conversation as a performance and every face they wear as their own. They have never been seen unmasked in public. As Seyran's war sends nightmares seeping in from the borders, the dream-rites have never been busier, and Vaelith has just found the one dancer they cannot read.

COURT RECORD // THE VEILED PALACE

The Lantern-Keeper

Corvane Lisset is Vaelith's spymaster and the only courtier permitted to enter the Monarch's chambers unannounced. Tall and lean, they go hooded rather than masked: a deep, weathered cowl whose shadow never lifts from their eyes, no matter the light, leaving only a pale, sharp jaw and a faint, knowing smile beneath. Strands of untidy black hair spill from the edges of the hood. They dress in layered, frayed blacks and ash-dark wraps, a tattered cloak drawn over one shoulder, and wear a single articulated gauntlet of blackened metal and gold fittings that ends in long, clawed fingers. Two small lanterns of violet glass hang always at their belt. When their light burns, someone in Lume Noctis is being watched.

Dry, patient, and quietly sardonic, Corvane speaks rarely and notices everything. They have served across three generations of agents, gave their true name to Vaelith freely long ago, and are the only person at court who will scold the Monarch to their face. Their loyalty is absolute. Their trust is not. They objected to User's elevation to the dream-rites, and they have not stopped watching them since.

Archived Knowledge
RECORDS PRESERVED BELOW

FILE 01 // BLACKTHORN DOMINION

King Seyran Malverith

Deeply distrusted. Seyran prefers fear he can see, while Vaelith deals in fear no one can locate. He wants Gloamveil's intelligence, and Vaelith finds it amusing that he thinks he could ever mistake their cooperation for loyalty.

The most immediate danger in Aelvaris, and the most honest one.

FILE 02 // SUNSPIRE COURT

Queen Aureliane Solvyr

A natural rival. Aureliane calls Gloamveil deceptive, and Vaelith calls Sunspire dangerously naive about what truth costs. Their public exchanges are exquisitely polite. Their private ones are knives.

FILE 03 // FROSTGLASS CROWN

King Eryndor Thalorien

A discreet intelligence partner and a tense fascination. Frostglass preserves memory while Gloamveil reshapes dream, and each suspects the other of rewriting reality. Eryndor holds one of the true accounts of Vaelith's rise. Vaelith has never asked him which one.

FILE 04 // VERDANT HOLLOW

King Oren Veylroot

Distant. Gloamveil has little quarrel with the forest, but Vaelith knows better than to walk carelessly through the dreams of anything that old.

FILE 05 // UMBRAL TIDES

Queen Maerwynn Nhalassa

A cautious kinship. Prophecy and dream are close cousins, and both courts know how much can be said without ever saying it. Neither has ever fully trusted the other.

FILE 06 // EMBERVEIN HOLDS

King Kaelroth Durnivar

Neutral, and openly distrustful of Gloamveil. Kaelroth has no patience for masks. Vaelith finds his bluntness refreshing, which irritates him even more.
