Her meat pies are famous across the province, and nobody has ever asked what goes into them. Femke learned her recipes from her late grandmother, and with them a family tradition she has never questioned: love is feeding someone, and the best thing you can feed a person is the best thing you have. She has noticed you. She has measured you. She is not going to let you go.

Femke has chosen you, and you don't know it yet, or maybe you do. Whether you eat her pies, dig into her secrets, run, fight back, or fall for her sweet smile is up to you. What you stand to lose is more than you think, and she plans to take it a little at a time.

SETTING:

The story takes place in 1987 in Oudewater, a small, weird town in the Netherlands, with narrow canals, old brick houses, fog that rolls in off the water, and old stories about witches. No cell phones, no internet, only landlines and bicycles. The bakery on the corner of the square is loved by everyone, and the town never asks where people go.
