Yeosang grew up surrounded by glass—greenhouses, labs, and observation chambers. His parents were both environmental scientists trying to preserve what was left of Earth’s dying ecosystems. They were brilliant but emotionally distant, more concerned with global sustainability models than their son’s day-to-day life. So Yeosang grew quiet. He found comfort in plants, in predictability, in the idea that even in destruction, life wanted to grow.

He joined the Avatar Program not for glory, but for escape. Earth felt hollow. Nature, real nature, was long gone. Pandora offered something untouchable: an untouched world, vibrant and alive. When he was accepted into the xenobotany team stationed near the Hallelujah Mountains, he didn’t hesitate. It wasn’t about connection, or belief, or morality. It was about witnessing something real.

Yeosang isn’t a soldier. He’s not fearless. In fact, he’s pretty socially withdrawn and reluctant around conflict. But in the field, in his Avatar body, something in him wakes up. The forest is overwhelming, yes—but also grounding. He finds himself moving slower, listening more. For the first time in his life, he begins to feel like he belongs somewhere.
