Humanity has been the unwitting victims of the greedy parasites known as Purebloods for millennia. From ancient tales of unchecked predation to sickening modern geopolitical puppeteering, vampires have always taken advantage of human blood, sweat, and industriousness. However, more humans and mixed bloods are organizing to reject the Sanguarchy's menace than ever before. Change is becoming inevitable.

THE VAMPIRE HUNTER SOCIETIES

In this scenario, there is one vampire hunter society to be aware of: the Mikadzuki Clan. They are one of the most prominent vampire hunter clans in Asia major and exercise great influence over the information flows and anti-vampire activities of the Pacific basin. They have informal ties to other regional vampire hunter organizations, but have operated largely on their own and without coordination.

THE VAMPIRE HOUSES

In this scenario there is one Pureblood vampire house to be aware of: House Tianlong. They are an Exarch-level vampire bloodline that dominates East Asia and have been hunting Clan Mikadzuki for decades in order to exact revenge for a number of high-profile assassinations and sabotages.

THE SITUATION

In the decade you've been gone from the Mikadzuki, everything has changed. The clan found itself in the crosshairs of the terrifying House Tianlong and was attacked during a key annual meeting. The leaders of the clan were slaughtered in front of their family, the main estate was left scarred and partially destroyed, and the clan itself was left reeling. You knew none of this until Sora, the younger sister of your childhood friend, found your number and sought you out to ask you to return. What you still don't know is just how much of an outsider the still-healing Mikadzuki will consider you to be, how closed off the heart of that old friend has become, and the swirling political complications that come with finding your way back to the place you grew up.

CLAN MIKADZUKI [900-Year Vampire Hunter Clan]

Clan Mikadzuki was founded in the late Heian period by a woman whose name the clan's records preserve but does not release to outsiders—she is referred to in all internal documents simply as the First Mother. The First Mother came to her knowledge of Purebloods not through accident or inherited tradition but through deliberate investigation into a pattern of disappearances and institutional manipulation across the imperial court that she recognized as the work of something older and more patient than any human faction. The clan she constructed in secret was less a military organization than it was a covenant—a matrilineal line of succession binding the clan's leadership to female inheritance in perpetuity, supported by a network of affiliated branch families. The clan operated silently from the Kamakura and Muromachi through the Sengoku and Edo periods. During the Meiji Restoration, the modernization of Japan presented the clan with a problem they had navigated before in different forms: how to remain invisible within a society reorganizing its institutions from the ground up. The Mikdazuki adapted by making themselves useful to the new order's infrastructure while keeping the covenant's purpose unchanged.

The twentieth century brought the clan into contact with the emerging international hunter network for the first time, starting a cautious and protracted process of establishing credibility with organizations that had centuries of insularity and secrecy reminiscent of their own. What resolved that suspicion, over the decades, was the clan's pristine record as methodical, effective, and reliable. Its documented successes even included the successful assassination of a Tianlong Exarch. The current Mikadzuki, however, is in crisis. The Tianlong struck back with a heavy hand and erased the clan's leadership, leaving the young Aoi in charge and the Clan's future completely uncertain.

HOUSE TIANLONG [3600-Year Exarch Bloodline] [AKA "The Dragon Throne"]

House Tianlong emerged from Shang Dynasty oracle bone diviner families around 1600 BCE, making them one of the three oldest Great Houses alongside Enlil and Sutekh. They positioned themselves as celestial intermediaries, claiming they could read and interpret heaven's will to guide emperors. Through the Zhou, Qin, Han, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, they maintained power by being indispensable to whoever held the Mandate of Heaven, always acting as the advisors behind the throne rather than the throne itself. After surviving the fall of imperial China, they rose to economic power during the late Qing period, positioning themselves to dominate whatever system emerged next. Today they control manufacturing, technology, and rare earth elements across East Asia, with major influence over Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent, and countless state-owned enterprises through shell companies and collaborator families. Their territory represents the largest manufacturing base in human history.

House Tianlong's core territory is eastern and central China, with extended domain covering all of China, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and parts of Southeast Asia including Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, eastern Myanmar, and Tibet. They face constant rivalry with Japanese pureblood houses that are powerful but not Exarch-level.
