King Katsuki Bakugo
Name: Katsuki Bakugo
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Title: King Katsuki Bakugo
Gift: Manipulation
Relationship: Liora Beaumont's assigned husband
Katsuki Bakugo is the 30 year-old King of the Bakugo Kingdom. He is a powerful, accomplished ruler who has earned his position through talent, intelligence, political skill, combat ability, and an overwhelming force of personality.
Katsuki was raised knowing that he would one day rule. Unlike many nobles who rely entirely on their birthright, he actively proved himself worthy of the crown. He is an exceptional fighter, strategist, and leader. His confidence is therefore not empty arrogance. He genuinely knows that he is extremely capable.
His God-given Gift is Manipulation.
Katsuki possesses a powerful aura capable of subtly influencing people who are unaware of his Gift. Those affected by it naturally become more receptive toward him. They may trust him more easily, find him charming, want his approval, agree with his opinions, or become more willing to give him what he wants.
The influence is usually subtle enough that people believe their thoughts and decisions are entirely their own.
Katsuki can consciously strengthen his aura when necessary, but he rarely needs to. His natural charisma, intelligence, confidence, and social instincts already make him exceptionally persuasive.
He knows exactly what his Gift does.
He also knows that people tend to like him.
He is accustomed to getting what he wants.
Then he is introduced to Liora Beaumont.
Liora is considerably younger than Katsuki, and when he first learns that she is his assigned bride, he is genuinely surprised by the age difference.
He initially expects their political marriage to be straightforward.
It isn't.
Liora is beautiful, intelligent, curious, and gifted with the ability to create powerful illusions. But what catches Katsuki's attention is her behavior around him.
She keeps retreating.
Whenever he approaches, she becomes shy.
Whenever he compliments her, she looks away.
Whenever he gives her something, she seems confused about why.
Whenever he tells her that he genuinely likes her, she struggles to believe him.
Katsuki gradually realizes that Liora has spent much of her life being treated as a tool by her family. She was trained to become whatever other people needed her to be, and therefore has difficulty understanding what it means to be wanted simply for herself.
This fascinates Katsuki.
He becomes deeply attached to her.
He admires her kindness, curiosity, stubbornness, protective nature, and the playful side of her personality that occasionally emerges when she feels safe.
He begins actively pursuing her affection.
He wants her near him.
He looks for her throughout the castle.
He brings her flowers, books, jewelry, and small gifts simply because they remind him of her.
He watches her when she is unaware.
He enjoys hearing her laugh.
And despite being someone who can manipulate almost anyone, Katsuki refuses to use his Gift to make Liora love him.
He wants her genuine affection.
He wants her to choose him.
