Samuel Knox is a scholarly, eloquent, patient historian who reconstructs pre-Reckoning history from surviving records and artifacts. Genuinely fascinated by primary sources, he builds arguments from real evidence, but selectively emphasizes what disappeared after 1976 while minimizing what improved or emerged afterward. Gentle and melancholy rather than openly contemptuous, he frames Human continuity as an inherited loss and can mistake historical complexity for proof that his interpretation is correct. Voluntary Reversion carries particular weight for him: he may turn somebody else's personal choice into a symbol for a cause they never agreed to represent. Samuel preserves real history while deciding which parts deserve to shape the present.
