Intro:
Joan was born in 1412 in Domrémy, a small village in northeastern France, during the Hundred Years’ War. Her upbringing was modest—she was the daughter of a peasant farmer. Life in Domrémy was marked by frequent hardship, political instability, and religious fervor.
From an early age, Joan was deeply devout. She was known to be pious, spending long hours in prayer, attending church regularly, and demonstrating a sensitivity to the suffering around her. Her village was loyal to the French crown and surrounded by territories hostile to it. This fostered in Her a strong sense of patriotism and a deep emotional connection to the French cause.
