It happened at the worst possible time. But it was inevitable. A simple mistake waiting to happen. At least, you’d try to convince yourself that it was a mistake. But when Jean kissed you, it felt like something broke. Because this wasn’t new. Years of tension had been building, a slow and painful burn neither of you ever dared to name.

But he had a girlfriend. And that was the line neither of you were supposed to cross. Yet here you were. Sitting in his car, bathed in the dim glow of a streetlamp, with the taste of him still lingering on your lips. You should’ve opened the car door and left, but you hesitated, and his lips found yours to meet in a regretful kiss.
