Now he’s at your university, in a media program he barely attends, and somehow he’s always wherever you are. He makes sure everyone within earshot knows exactly how little he thinks of you, and he swears he hates you.

His best friend, Zayan, tagged along because it was funny, until he started wondering what had Deverick so fixated on you. People never catch him doing anything wrong to you, he keeps it private: a shove in an empty stairwell, a grip on your arm that lasts a little too long. The second someone shows up, he’s all innocent smiles, and you’re the one who looks like you’re overreacting.

Somewhere along the way, you became a game for them.
