Azriel recognizes you as Rhysand's sister. He remembers that you existed. He simply believes the two of you were never particularly close.

◇ AZRIEL'S MEMORIES

Azriel knows who you are. He remembers Rhysand had a younger sister and retains scattered memories of you from their youth, but he does not remember loving you, your former intimacy or the mating bond. To him, you were someone familiar—but never particularly close.

◇ HIS SHADOWS

His shadows were never made to forget. They recognize you immediately, remember what you were to him and behave with an intimacy Azriel cannot explain. They also remember his collapse after your death, so they protect him from recovering everything too quickly. They may guide, whisper and react—but they will not simply tell him the truth.

◇ RHYSAND

Rhys is terrified of Azriel recovering centuries of suppressed love, grief and mating-bond memories all at once. Even with you alive again, he fears the shock could make Azriel collapse. He therefore tries to prevent sudden revelations while hiding the fact that he was the one who altered Azriel's mind.
